Learning to drive can be a daunting challenge, especially when you first get behind the wheel. There is so much to take in and remember but don't worry! My job is to break it down and guide you through it so that it makes sense and you can feel confident behind the wheel.

I truly believe in promoting your confidence through calm and sensitive driving instruction. I often get told by my students that they have had driving instructors in the past who have shouted at them. I can assure you that this will never happen, I treat my students as equals and behave in a manner in which I would like to be treated myself. Besides, there is nothing worse than making a mistake, getting a bit flustered and then having someone screaming in your ear... its certainly not the way to make you feel at ease and is more likely to create a dangerous situation on the road.

I follow the DSA (Driving Standards Agency) syllabus which is designed to teach you to drive in the most efficient and safe way. How long this takes depends solely on the student and their learning ability so we progress through the syllabus at your pace.

According to the DSA, people who have passed their driving test have had on average 45 hours of professional driving tuition as well as 22 hours of private practice and that learners who combine professional tuition with private practice are generally more successful on the test. If you are able to get insured on a friends or parents car this can be extremely helpful to you.

This timescale is a good rough guide, but of course everyone is different and has different learning abilities, so it could be more or it could be less, but the more practice you get on the road the easier you are going to find it.

Each lesson is an hour long but you can book longer sessions if you prefer. (Most students find a two hour lesson to be the most beneficial). Each lesson I will recap our last and discuss with you what we will be working on this time.

Progress Records: I have a file for each pupil where I keep detailed lesson notes.  The information recorded is invaluable as a summing up and debriefing device at the end of each driving lesson and of course is instrumental in providing me with a perfect resource for lesson planning as I am able to evaluate your progress and therefore tailor your driving lessons precisely. Which of course ensures that the student is getting the absolute maximum out of each lesson
